There were no storybook bedtimes

But we often heard talk of bridges
and what if everyone
and jumping off
Some of us were told
happiness is a byproduct
of obedience to husbands
and good women waited
and waited

And now
in adult springs of cool water
it is not the pressure of a peer
that leads us in
or lets us
skim eachothers' bodies
with our calf or fingertip
it's just that it is actually our turn

thanks, James...not so sure about that, if it's the way it's supposed to be, but it still is nevertheless. Your latest works are lovely as always

hope i didn't misread you, but what i meant is that if we can shake ourselves loose from peer influence and tradition, perhaps we can set out on paths of our own choosing, and claim our education as unique.

i do admire the ambiguity, however, that seems a constant in your work, wherein there is never such a thing as a simple truth, only a multi-layered,often circuitous, attempt to capture it.
