To move me

It takes so little these days
words mostly, of torches being passed
in degrees and fashions
or crystals hanging in the foyer
which in the old house hung
in eastern corners
to protect children and futures
back when I believed in something
like Asian decorative rituals
or that hard work did something
like pay off

But it's mostly words
brief and careless
like you are wonderful
we cannot fix this
high school is a disappointment
I decided to stop being myself
I'm not coming back
I would do anything
Please say at least there is hope

this one crackles with the sparks of voices colliding. it has some of the kinetic energy of robert altman's overlapping dialogue in mash or nashville, where we don't need to understand every word to let the fabric envelop us.
